Laff During Wartime!

Living in a nation preoccupied with perpetual conflict, it's a little surprising that there aren't more war comedies out there. Gomer Pyle, McHales Navy, Hogan's Heroes, fucking M.A.S.H., is there not a place for military/wartime based comedy anymore? It's important that we not hide our heads in the sand. Like it or not, we're at war, and have been for a long time. And that's what's interesting about this book. It's aimed at a civilian audience, rather than a GI one. First published in 1942, during the thralls of WWII, it implores us to laugh, while purchasing war bonds. You'll notice that after the war, once the GI's returned home, these joke books got a lot more risque.
